Samsung Becomes the Biggest Android Tablet Company with Most Tablets Shipped, Beaten Only by Apple

Samsung has just ranked second in the global tablet market, becoming the biggest Android tablet company in the world. I say Android because the first spot is still in the hands of Apple, the lead that the company has enjoyed for a long, long time. Q1 2023 saw a decline in tablet sales as compared to last year, but the sales are still respectable enough, showing that consumers are still looking to get their hands on it.
Based on the statistics from IDC, the South Korean tech giant managed to ship 7.1 million tablets in the first quarter of this year. This is actually a big drop from last year. Apple, on the other hand, shipped 10.8 million units during the first quarter, again experiencing a drop as compared to last year. The top five list was completed by the likes of Huawei, shipping 2 million tablets, Lenovo shipping 1.9 million tablets, and Amazon shipping 1.4 million tablets.
Now, the good news for the tablet market is that Oppo, Relame, Vivo, OnePlus, and even Google are coming with their tablets. This means that Samsung will not only have some competition to look forward to but this also means that we could finally start Android tablets becoming more and more potent.
This is actually good news for Samsung. The company has three more tablets planned for later this year. You are getting the Galaxy Tab S9 series, consisting of the base, plus, and ultra variants. These are going to be premium tablets bringing top-notch OLED panels, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy ,as well as IP67 rating, S Pen support, and more. The tablets are supposed to go official at the next Unpacked, and based on the information we have received, Samsung will be hosting it earlier at the end of July. So, we will keep you posted as we near the release date.
Aside from Samsung, the Pixel Tablet will also be unveiled in just two days, so we will be getting another premium Android tablet for anyone looking for a top-tier experience. I do hope that more Android OEMs step up to deliver a great experience and finally have something that will challenge Apple and perhaps manage to dethrone the top spot that the company has occupied for years.
