The original caption that ran with this photograph in the Thursday, June 7, 1923 edition of The Cobb County Times read: "These go-getters in the Chamber of Commerce Drive had already run the total membership up to 360 with every prospect of passing the 500 mark in the two days that are to come. In it are the most representative citizens of Marietta. The men and women who are working to build. This photo will be mighty valuable in years to come, for it shows the progressive men and women who started the Chamber of Commerce here. Upon them depends the Chamber of Commerce and most everything else worth while for Marietta."
