The ECHL announced Monday the Worcester Railers have been named finalists for 2022-23 ECHL Team Awards for Community Service Team of the Year and Most Creative Ticket Package of the Year honors.

It's the fifth straight year the Railers have been up for the Community Service Team of the Year Award. The Railers have won the award four times since its introduction in 2019.

"Community-first is engrained in the DNA of the Worcester Railers," Railers chief operating officer Mike Myers said. "We're proud to have an opportunity to give back to families and nonprofits throughout Central Massachusetts and are grateful that the ECHL has recognized these efforts annually."

The Worcester Railers HC Foundation has donated over $1.4 million and has partnered with over 750 local community organizations throughout Central Mass. since it was started in 2016. The primary aim is to make the sport of hockey accessible for all and has a primary focus on youth-based organizations and food insecurity in the region.

Last season the foundation donated more than $250,000 dollars to nonprofits in the region, donated over 5,000 pounds of food to those in need, and welcomed more than 2,000 kids for the team's flagship community program, Skate to Success.

The team was also known for having several creative ticket package offerings for fans, earning the nomination for their "Celebrate the New Year with the Railers" offering.

Working with Worcester city officials, the team created a package to celebrate New Year's Eve by providing gameattendees with ice skating on the Worcester Common Oval, skate rentals, and hot chocolate from TheDogfather food truck two hours prior to puck drop.

"Any opportunity to collaborate with local entities and small businesses is always a win for the Railers," teampresident Stephanie Ramey said. "We are proud of our city and enjoy opportunities to further introduce ourfans to downtown Worcester. This ticket package was well received, and we hope to reintroduce it during the'23-24 season."

The ECHL Team Awards winners will be announced during the ECHL Hockey Summer Meetings in Las Vegas on Wednesday, June 28. The presentation will also be available for streaming on the ECHL Facebook Page at 7 that night.
