Samsung has slashed the price of its current flagships in a series of surprise discounts. The Galaxy maker isn't shy about competitively pricing its latest hardware, especially when a rival is about to launch a new product. This year, with Google's Pixel Fold imminent and two new Razr flip phones landing this week, Samsung has knocked up to $250 off the current roster of handsets.

There are also some discounts for Galaxy tablets and Galaxy laptops on the Samsung store. If you have been holding out to buy a Samsung device, this is the time to pick one up. If this is all still too rich for your blood consider Google's latest perfectly balanced Pixel instead.

The green Galaxy S23 ultra, which launched in February, has been discounted by $180 for the 512GB model. The phantom black S23+ has received a $120 discount. The price of last year's S22 Ultra has been slashed by $250 (check out my full review here), while the S22+ gets a $100 discount.

Samsung's Galaxy Book 360 is an outstanding laptop that is worth considering with a $300 discount.

The Galaxy Book3 Pro 360 gets a $300 discount, whereas the 360 Galaxy Chromebook 2 is $150 cheaper. You can pick up the 512GB Galaxy Tab 8+ for $220 less and there's $80 off of the 265GB model too.

The bad news is that the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Flip 4 haven't been discounted. We may have to wait until August, when the next generation of Samsung foldables lands, before we see any significant price cuts. Even without a discount Samsung does have some of the best trade-in prices if you absolutely want to buy one of the company's foldables right now.

Having reviewed the Fold 3 and Fold 4 I can comfortably say that there isn't enough a difference between the two handsets to justify spending hundreds of extra dollars on the latest model. So if you can find a cut price Fold 3 elsewhere, get that. The other option is to wait for Google's Pixel Fold and Motorola's fourth iteration of the revamped Razr, which will both launch soon.

In short, yes. The Pixel Fold will be available for purchase next month, so it's worth seeing how well the flexible phone is received (and for my review, of course). I suspect Samsung will announce a new promotion or deal for its existing Fold and Flip phones shortly after, so hold your cash for now.

Samsung is also four releases ahead of Google when it comes to foldable phones and that experience is important for complex technology. First generation technology can be hit or miss and Google has a history of device device defining problems, so let the dust settle before making a decision on which new phone to buy.

The two new Motorola Razr handsets, rumoured to be a regular and pro model, will be the company's fourth attempt at making a foldable version of the classic flip phone. The company has steadily improved the Razr with every iteration but short Android support and inconsistent camera capabilities has held previous devices back. Check out my video below on the Razr's issues.

Samsung's pedigree in making smartphones and foldables gives it the advantage here. I am interested in a possible high-end Razr model, though. Almost all flip phones are essentially expensive mid-range devices with a fancy display, so Motorola making a true flagship is worth waiting to take a look at.

At the very least it's worth waiting to see how good the new devices are (stay tuned for my reviews) and how Samsung responds with discounts. If you only have the budget for cheaper phone, Google's Pixel 7a is the best value for money smartphone I’ve ever used.
